Sonambulant Saturday

Picard dancing

I’m abundantly glad it’s Saturday. The short work week caught up with me today. I could barely keep my eyes open this morning. I managed 20 minutes of stretching, but no other workout. The hairstylist tweaked my hair (more red, please!). After lunch, Rex and I napped. Our eyes closed at what seemed like the same instance. Perfect day for it, as it rained all day, getting heavier as the light died.

In the past, I would have beat myself up for not having more energy. I did vacuum downstairs, keeping the endless parade of cat hair in check. But I’m learning, slowly but surely, to listen to this body.  I don’t just tenant inside this flesh; it’s my earthly home.  I must take care of it. That means, in the words of Anne Lamott, “radical self-care” at times.  I shouldn’t ignore how I feel by enduring a punishing workout, but rather learn to tune into it and made quality decisions regarding my ability at the moment. One of the fruits of the Spirit is patience. I hope to reap a bigger crop.

That being said, I’ll be back at it tomorrow.

P.S. Where *does* Captain Picard get his energy?!
